Working with wedges is EASY and so fun! In this five week class, we will mix it up with blocks that are traditional, modern, creative, and/or unconventional to construct a quilt. You will make wheels, Dresdens, optical illusions, and more! You can make this as a complete quilt top to quilt as desired OR quilt each block individually before piecing the sections together. Either way you will end up with a masterpiece that only LOOKS difficult. This class is beginner friendly and fun for experienced quilters too. The cost breaks down to only $18 per class.
Wednesday, October 27, 10a-1p Have you ever wanted to make a group of two color Flying Geese that are all the same, with one color small triangle on the left and a different color on the right? Some designs call for it, and quilters have asked if there’s a way to do that with the Fast Flying Geese method. And the answer is, “You betcha!” It’s only a little trickier than the original method because you have to be sure you have your colors placed correctly, but once you’ve done that, you’ll have those four matching, slightly oversized Flying Geese ready to trim in no time!
Wednesday, October 20, 10a-1p This tool creates a fundamental unit that is sure to add sparkle to your quilt block designs. The final unit has two seamlines radiating from a single corner, so the center triangle in the finished unit resembles a beam of light shining out of that corner. Accurate construction has always been challenging until now. With the Corner Beam tool, all the shapes are cut slightly over sized and once sewn, trimmed to extremely precise units with seams perfectly placed for a crisp sharp point every time. Brighten up your blocks by adding Corner Beam to your toolbox today!
Wednesday, October 13, 10a-1p The Wing Clipper is a must have tool if you are making flying geese units. We will learn to use this tool and the associated Fast Flying Geese construction technique. This tool allows you to make four finished units from five squares. The best part is that each unit is constructed slightly oversized so each can be trimmed to a perfect size with the perfect seam placement by using the Wing Clipper tool. As a bonus, we will also be using the Pickets & Quickets Technique Sheet to create pickets and Quickets. This fundamental unit has evolved over the years from two individual templates to rectangles and folded squares and now to “picket fences” & “Quickets!” For “pickets” you will use the same folded corner technique but start with slightly oversized squares and rectangles so that your oversized unit can be trimmed to perfection with the Wing Clipper tool. For “Quickets” you will use a process similar to the Fast Flying Geese method that will result in slightly oversized units that can be trimmed to perfection with the Wing Clipper tool.
Friday, November 12 - 10a-1p In this class you'll create an Origami folded gift box which can be filled with thread for a sewing project. It will also make a unique, one of a kind box to give as a gift filled with candy, a trinket, Christmas ornament, or anything unique to give to that special someone. With your personal choice of fabric it can also be a unique object of art.
Friday, November 5 - 10a-1p In this class you'll learn how to create Katja Marek's Millefiori Quilt that took the quilting world by storm in 2015. Her dream started in 2011 and her book was introduced in 2015 and remained the #1 book with Martingale Publishing for the entire year. The quilt is a journey that ends up very satisfying when it's completed. It involves English Paper Piecing by hand. You'll learn the basics of EPP and perfect fussy cutting and how to create your own templates.
Friday, October 22 - 10a-1p
I've been teaching English Paper Piecing classes that some would consider to be a master class.
I created this one to introduce the novice to the world of EPP. The class stars with the basics and includes a lesson in perfect fussy cutting which will allow you to create your own amazing designs.
